The ninth volume Addenda follows the structure of the first eight volumes of his Opuscula, which were published between 2001 and 2011 by habilitated pupils of this world-class Hellenist and Historian of Religion (1931–2015). The volume closes gaps and integrates most of the more recent articles published since the cut-off date of the publication vol. I (2001) in the areas Homerica (I), Orientalia (II), Mystica, Orphica, Pythagorica (III), Mythica, Ritualia, Religiosa (IV-VI), Tragica et Historica (VII) and Philosophica (VIII) .

In addition, the remarkable academic debut, the Erlangen dissertation ‘Zum altgriechischen Mitleidsbegriff’ (On the ancient Greek concept of compassion), is made accessible to a wider audience for the first time. The volume also contains an appreciation by the Dutch Religious Scholar Jan N. Bremmer, a friend of Walter Burkert.
